I posted before about how having kids changes all the words and meanings to songs. I’m not a political person and I don’t like to soap box or jump on the latest craze, but knowing what happened in Newtown it is very hard to push it from my mind when listening to the radio. Especially, since my daughter is the same age and I am already paranoid about leaving her.
Listening to the continuous play Christmas music gets to me because when Celine sings:
and so this is Christmas
And what have we done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so happy Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear ones
The old and the young
I can’t help thinking what it would be like to be one of the parents, a few short days away from Christmas, who will have gifts under a tree that will never be opened. God be with the families of the lost children, and God bless the heroic teachers. And that is all I have to say about that.
