This is a shot of my elevator panel. Notice anything strange? We seem to
be missing a lot of numbers. Where are 4, 13, & 14? Actually, I know. In
Chinese the number 4 is symbolic of death for the way it sounds, so 4, 14,
24, etc… are usually omitted in a sequence such as this. It will depend
on the contractor, but it is common in China. The number 13 is unlucky in
the US, so I guess my place is covering all the bases.
My question is: If you live on the 25th floor, what floor do you tell the
fire department to rescue you on?
